How to make your Internet faster with fastest DNS

Friday, February 15, 2013
Got a high speed internet connection but still your browser takes ages to load pages.Well.. the culprit could be inappropriate DNS settings. For those the term seems Greek, let's have a first hand info on what a DNS server does.
DNS servers or Domain Name System servers translate the URLs of websites that you type in your browser(like www.google.co.in) to the actual IP address of servers from where they are hosted. So the faster the DNS server, richer will be the browsing experience.

The best DNS servers suiting your connection can be determined by an open source benchmarking tool by Google -  Namebench. It runs on Mac OS X, Windows, and UNIX, and is available with a graphical user interface as well as a command-line interface.
After installing it, hit on start and after running a number of tests it will come up with the best DNS servers for you.
Now you need to manually update the DNS server in the TCP/IP settings.

Manual DNS update for Windows XP : -

Now under header - LAN or High speed Internet, select your connection, right click on it & select Properties.
